The Diversity Action Committee (DAC) organised a forum with BlackRock and the Singapore Exchange. Senior management of larger SGX-listed companies, investment managers and asset owners joined us to listen to distinguished speakers

on how good stewardship would help companies strengthen their capacity to deal with the opportunities and risks arising from disruptive changes in the value chain, climate change, social licence to operate, staffing for new business conditions.

DAC Chairman to Chairman Conversation Event, 19 September 2018

 

More than 30 board chairmen of the largest SGX-listed companies joined the Diversity Action Committee (DAC) for a breakfast conversation with

  • Peter T. Grauer (Chairman, Bloomberg)
  • Peter Seah (Chairman, DBS Group and Singapore Airlines)
  • S.S. Teo (Executive Chairman and Managing Director, Pacific International Lines)
  • Janet Ang (Vice President, Industry Solutions and Smarter Cities, IBM Asia Pacific)

Speakers shared their views on how companies steer through disruptive changes in technology, markets and supply chains, and issues of board diversity and resilience.

Women in Leadership Networking and Workshop by Bloomberg, Deloitte and Diversity Action Committee, 31 July 2018

The Diversity Action Committee (DAC), Bloomberg and Deloitte came together for the first time to organise a leadership networking and workshop session for highly successful women who are either board directors or women with corporate board potential.

The session included

  • A keynote address by Mr Teo Siong Seng, (S.S. Teo), Member of Diversity Action Committee, Chairman of Singapore Business Federation and Executive Chairman & Managing Director of Pacific International Lines,
  • A conversation with Bloomberg TV correspondent Haslinda Amin hosted by Margie Warrell, bestselling author and women’s leadership advocate
  • A ‘SheSuite’ executive presence workshop by Margie Warrell

DAC Seminar “Resolving the Performance Puzzle of Board Gender Diversity”, 29 June 2018

 

The Diversity Action Committee (DAC) organised a seminar on 29 June 2018, with NUS Business School’s Centre for Governance, Institutions & Organisations (CGIO) as knowledge partner.

The seminar included a keynote address by Mr Simon Israel, Board Chairman of Singtel and SingPost and a panel discussion chaired by Mr Tham Sai Choy, First Vice-Chairman of Singapore Institute of Directors (SID).

Launch of Diversity Action Committee’s Report ‘Women on Boards: Tackling the Issue’, 5 Oct 2016

Diversity Action Committee (DAC) presented its report ‘Women on Boards: Tackling the Issue’ to Mr Tan Chuan-Jin, Minister for Social and Family Development, the Guest-of-Honour at the event.

The two-part report discusses obstacles to having more women directors on boards of SGX-listed companies and made 5 recommendations to Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), listed companies and the overall market. It also features conversations with chairmen and board directors from companies that have achieved awards for good corporate governance practices – DBS, SIA, Singtel, Yoma Strategic and Micro-Mechanics – on the topic of gender diversity on boards.

Case Study Workshop by INSEAD’s Professor Randel Carlock, 18 February 2016

The Diversity Action Committee (DAC) partnered Professor Randel Carlock from INSEAD to hold a workshop that immersed participants in reviewing and discussing the roles and responsibilities of the board, the board chairman as well as the CEO in making decisions in the decision-making process. Telling Your Story for Board Roles, 24 November 2015
